FOR THE EASY-GOING
We planned and designed a web client for abas’ ERP system. For the UID team, the project was full of challenges – from web keyboard operation to a scalable design through to internationalization.

Task-oriented and customizable
In the design, we consistently focused on the needs of the users. Access is via a dashboard that users can configure individually. It provides an overview of all processes, workflows and tasks. A visualization also displays the tasks graphically and locates them in the respective workflow. A pie menu, a circular context menu, gives users direct access to the most common actions. They can assign notes to the respective processes using drag & drop. A new color concept supports orientation and targeted work.

ABAS ERP system
Together with ABAS Software AG, UID created the concept and visual design for the web client of an ERP system.
Supports all companies
The software supports companies from the manufacturing, retail and service sectors in the management and control of processes throughout the company, from purchasing to accounting.

The UID experts first created an interaction concept for the application.
Prototype
With the interactive prototype developed in Axure, the customer was able to test the application at an early stage of development.
Dashboard
The ABAS Web Client is accessed via a dashboard.
It provides the user with an overview of all processes, workflows and tasks.
The process
Together with abas, we went through the human-centered design process: at the beginning, we analyzed the context of use on site. From this, we derived requirements and translated them into typical user stories. Based on this, we implemented the interaction and design and made them tangible with an interactive prototype. Finally, we tested the concept with potential users in order to further optimize it.
The team
Our UX consultants benefited in the project from their many years of practical expertise in the design of enterprise software. Our team is an expert in the visualization of complex data. We also know how to design business processes efficiently – without losing sight of people.
Keyboard operation
UID defined shortcuts and access keys for the web. This makes it easier for users to get started, as they can operate the web client in the same way as the desktop application.
Scalable design
The design adapts dynamically to different screen sizes. A real competitive advantage, especially in times of multiple display resolutions.
International use
We carried out expert reviews in the Asian and Arabic regions. This enabled us to ensure that the web GUI works across all linguistic and cultural boundaries.
Intuitive operation
A usability test showed how well the new concept supports users in their work. The conclusion of one test person: “This is software for lazy people”.
