Since 2015, UID has been supporting Dürr Systems AG in standardizing the look and feel of its operating interfaces in robot, process and assembly technology. The result is based on many years of trusting cooperation.

Consistent and efficient in smart production – in collaboration with Dürr Systems AG and iTAC Software AG, UID has developed a uniform, intuitive operating philosophy with a high-quality visual design typical of the brand. The result is an application suite with the touch-based system control software DXQequipment.operation and the desktop-based control room and MES solution DXQcontrol.
The special feature: The cross-plant user interface guarantees consistent and safe operation – both “horizontally” and “vertically”. “Horizontal” means covering all production stations – from painting and gluing technology to final assembly. “Vertical” covers all operating levels – from application technology to conveyor and process technology to control room technology, including the MES.

The style guide with icon library developed by UID is used across the Group and forms the basis for the uniform appearance.
The CSS definitions it contains provide developers with specifications for implementing the design in HTML5.

The consistent concept helps the user to get an overview of his system and to parameterize it at the same time.
The process
The UID experts started with an on-site analysis: They analyzed the existing production lines at a leading automotive manufacturer in southwest Germany and at Dürr Systems AG.
Starting with the application technology as well as the conveyor and process technology, they developed the uniform look and feel for all levels in concept workshops. The UID experts then transferred their concept and design to the control room technology and MES solution.

Short physical distances and consistency in the project team enabled efficient and agile collaboration between UID, Dürr Systems AG and iTAC Software AG.
Together with all stakeholders, especially Dürr’s management, we exchanged ideas intensively in order to achieve the best possible result.

The consistent concept helps the user to gain an overview of their system and parameterize it at the same time. By collecting and evaluating consumption data and machine parameters, production and processes are optimized in a targeted manner.

The concept and design of UID ensure recognition value and bring the quality of the Dürr brand to the surface. Dürr blue appears as the dominant color throughout the design. In this way, we create a coherent and appealing, group-wide brand experience for Dürr Systems AG.

The user interface design impresses with its stringency and harmony: fixed design elements such as the uniform frame with main menu and comprehensive status information and functions as well as the structured content area can be transferred to all production areas.
